Saturday, JUNE 5, 2010 - DOVER CAR SHOW - DOVER AIR FORCE BASE -

It was a dark and stormy night, ONLY KIDDING,....................  It really was a hot and humid day as we started out very early in the morning to the Dover Air Force Base Car Show.  The "Northern Division" of the KSCC came together (Tom Neilson, Mike Custer, Bill Foley, Mike Barasha) and met up with the "Southern Division" KSCC (Ken Woodcock, David Priest, Brett Hampson) at Jennison at the MacDonald's.  First order of business, where do we eat, here and have a quick bite or down the road to a restaurant?  Someone in the group (Tom)  wanted to go to restaurant.  Off we go.  We finally reached the restaurant and the food was good but service slow.  We told them we had to get on the road to Dover, didn't seem to make them go any faster......Anyway, we ate and off we go again.......Mike Barasha leading.  We looked and sounded great as always !   With walkie talkies in hand keeping everyone together.

Finally we made it to our destination....Mike B slowly leading us onto the base towards the Museum building as we were surrounded by huge air planes.  We were told and shown where to park and we ended up beside a C-141B Starlifter - HUGE HUGE plane.  The person in charge parked us side by side and after he left, Bill Foley had us all go back in our cars to line us up in a diagonal formation - it did look good.  With hoods up, rags out,  the process of cleaning was underway.  Some of us found a great spot with shade under the wing of this airplane that we were beside and there was a big breeze blowing - good thing it was partly cloudy or it would have been even hotter!  We were all set up, filled out our paperwork, went to the opening ceremony, had free soda and pizza, went to gift shop and museum (in the air conditioning ) walked around looking at other cars there and back to our shady breezy hot spots.

There were activities going on all around us, planes landing, etc.  Many military families were there and Mike Barasha now has the name of "Bad Boy"  because... . For all that weren't there..... at that moment a little boy came up to Mike's car with his family and repeated loudly and excited a couple of times  to his dad " LOOK AT THAT BAD BOY" ,  "LOOK AT THAT BAD BOY",  then walked around back and said DAD you could fit a kid in the back here!  Well we couldn't stop laughing and Mike was getting a kick out of it.....that kid just called  MY CAR 'BAD BOY'.  Well, for the rest of the day, that's all we said and heard.

It was now time for the awards..........I usually go up with everyone else to see what is going on but to tell you the truth, I was too hot to move (Patti Foley, Annette Custer and I stayed behind and made sure the chairs were not blowing around)  When the guys came back........FIVE of them had awards in hand.  KSCC DID IT AGAIN!!!!!

There were 20 Top Picks - Mike Custer & Brett Hampson won trophies for this .

There were (5) Medal of Honor Winners which are 5 special awards given to show participants judged to be better than the Top Twenty and given in Memory of actual "Medal of Honor" Recipients.  Each show participant received a trophy and plaque which depicts the story of the actual Medal Recipient's act of bravery, above & beyond the call of duty, for which he/she (in many cases) gave their lives for and which this award is presented in honor of today's event.  Ken Woodcock and Bill Foley won this award.

AND...Best of Show went to 'BAD BOY' - Mike Barasha!!!!!!

All were surprised and happy they won!  We were also very happy to see their faces as they won and proud of KSCC.  Cameras came out, pictures taken (which will be put on website) and all congratulated each other.  Great Day!

Strictly Corvette Show - April 24-25, 2010 - Atlantic City, NJ Convention Center

Excitement was building all week for this show.  Whose cars were still being worked on, who was finishing up polishing, etc., whose car was still being "inspected", etc.  A BIG  BIG  BIG Thanks to
John Puccella - Randy's car ran great.  Bill Foley had his brand new "inspection sticker" plus a couple of secret add-ons was done just in time and Mike Barasha's car had his finishing touches that he completed.

On Friday morning, April 23, 2010 at 10:30 am 7 KSCC corvettes started out together with Bob Gray leading us in his good looking 1963 corvette on our way to NJ.  All the vettes looked absolutely fantastic.  It was a beautiful sunny day, went by way of Commodore Barry Bridge, didn't like the construction along the way, but OH THE LOOKS WE WERE GETTING!  We looked great and sounded even greater!!  All of us had walkie-talkies and it was a fun drive, especially with the comments :)  We all pulled into the AC Convention Center around lunchtime and the excitement was still growing.  After we were all settled in our spots, out came the rags, cleaners, etc.  Lou Labron, Bill Foley & Mike Barasha were all together on the main floor "Display".  Bob Gray, Tom Neilson & Mark Regester were in the "Walk In History".

Saturday morning came, gates were open to public and judging started with their checklist and gloves!  You have to imagine a convention hall filled with beautiful corvettes - all years and colors - you knew there was a lot of competition out there! Tom Neilson had so many people around his car talking about the ZR-1.  Ken Woodcock's beautiful award winning corvette was on the red carpet "Display" along with Randy Hofer's "Blue Angel" corvette (they were across from each other).  Their displays were great with their magazine articles and pictures and Randy had a video of his vette from the start in the woods to present.   We met alot of nice people and saw many familiar faces & friends from other clubs.

On Sunday at 3pm the awards started.....There were 3 awards in each class.......... Have to tell you that KSCC Rocks!  Can't believe all the awards we won with a "judged" show.  Won 5 awards out of 8 KSCC cars that participated.  ALL our club cars are winners with or without award!!  All of us were so very happy for our club winners.

Thanks for participating and representing our Club in the Strictly Corvette Show and thanks to those that came down to check the show out.    We had a great time.   Congratulations to all!

Pictures to follow soon.

Oops - Winter storm damage to Al George's 1984 Coupe

April 18, 2010 Greetings from Larry & Judy Hamilton in Fl

Hi All!!

We finally got to do our first car show in Florida yesterday.  It was a Corvette show in Port Canaveral, put on by Cape Kennedy Corvette Club, just up the road from the space center.  It was a beautiful day in the low 80's and event was held in the parking lot where some of the cruise ships go out, if you look close in the picts you can see one docked in the background.  The trophies were very unique, they were beautiful wooden space shuttles and they were all autographed on the tail section by a former astronaut Jon Mcbride.  We were fortunate enough to win 1st place in the C-5, 00-04 class and win one of the great trophies.

Miss all you guys and hope everybody is doing good.

Larry & Judy Hamilton

P.S. sorry the picts are not clearer we were having camera problems.

He was employed as a pharmaceutical sales representative for 35 years.

In 1948 Frank married Ruth Miller from Bay Ridge, New York. Frank and Ruth lived in Philadelphia for one year then moved to Springfield, where they lived for 12 years. In 1964 they moved to Westtown, and lived in Chester County for the remainder of their lives. In his final seven years he lived happily at The Hickman Retirement Home in West Chester.

Frank was preceded in death by his wife Ruth, in 2003. He is survived by his children, Ruth S. "Holly" Gross, and her husband Richard S. Gross of East Fallowfield, Frank B. Frank was an active member of the Calvary Lutheran Church in West Chester. Frank enjoyed working with veterans at the Coatesville VA. He was active in the Patient Rights Organization, serving at one time as its president. For several years he participated in the Golden Age Games on behalf of the Coatesville VA.
He was a life member of the Chester County Corvette Club and the Keystone State Corvette Club where he proudly drove his metallic blue 1971 Stingray. He was instrumental in securing participation by both Corvette clubs in the annual Veterans Day Parade at the Coatesville VA Medical Center where he rode in the lead Corvette.
